Spring River Parent Teacher Council
A culture of volunteerism has always been at the heart of our Spring River Community. Our Parent Teacher Council promotes community life and supports the school's fundraising efforts and festivals.
In 2014, we started as a group of dedicated parents working together to create seasonal community festivals and parent education groups. In 2015, we offered enrichment classes supporting the homeschool efforts of our families. In the fall of 2018, we offered main lesson and enrichments for homeschooling families for the first time.
In 2021, we are excited to offer full time programming for the first time in addition to our part time options. It is the on-going enthusiasm, support and commitment of parents that helps maintain Spring River as a healthy and harmonious homeschool community.
All parents are automatically members of the Parent Teacher Council (PTC). Each class' room parent volunteers to represent their class at Council meetings and bring PTC news and projects back to the other parents. PTC activities are vitally important to our school, as is every family's participation in them. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the monthly meetings.
Our Parent Teacher Council is led by our PTC President and Faculty volunteer and functions under the guidance of our School Administrator and Board of Directors.
Meet our PTC President: Paula English!
Paula English is a Jacksonville native who grew up in Atlantic Beach. She went to Stetson University and earned a bachelor’s degree in education before returning to Jacksonville where she taught for 7 years in Duval County Public Schools.
She has since been home with her children, Emma and Ethan, navigating parenting and evolving as a mother and teacher. Paula discovered Waldorf and Spring River School in 2022 and became active in the PTC and fundraising committee, seeking to learn about and collaborate with the school mission and vision.
You can often find Paula with her children at local parks, on the beach, or connecting with other families for playdates. She is passionate about cooking and baking and could spend hours decorating a cake or making sourdough bread. She is deeply interested in the work of healing trauma and hopes to support the work of healing in the community around her.

Committees Work
All families participate in voluntary committee work at Spring River. This may look like attending meetings, planning fundraisers, bringing dragon bread to Michaelmas Festival, or taking photos for the school yearbook.
